Attention: need for action for webshop operators
What is this about?
From June 28, 2025, the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG), which implements the European Accessibility Act (EAA), will come into force. This law obliges operators of online stores to make their digital offerings accessible in order to provide unrestricted access for all people, including people with disabilities. It is advisable to start planning and implementation at an early stage, as implementation can be time-consuming depending on the extent of the necessary changes.
Adapting webshops to the legal requirements in good time not only ensures compliance with the regulations, but also improves the user experience for a wider target group and thus promotes inclusion.
What are the requirements?
- Perceptibility: All information and user interface components must be presented in such a way that they can be perceived by users with different sensory perceptions
- Usability: The navigation and all interactive elements must be operable for all users, regardless of their physical abilities.
- Comprehensibility: The information and operation of the user interface must be understandable and predictable.
- Robustness: Content must be robust enough to be interpreted by a variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.
How should you proceed?
- Inventory: We carry out a thorough analysis of the current webshop to identify existing barriers.

- Implementation: We will implement the planned measures by adding alternative text for images, improving keyboard navigation and using high-contrast color schemes, among other things.
